Licensed Professional Counselor

Florence ‘Flo’ Bhatia, MS, LPC

Florence 'Flo' Bhatia, MS, LPC-A | Licensed Therapist in Texas

Florence is a Licensed Professional Counselor, a Certified Dementia Care Specialist, and a Certified Grief Informed Specialist. Flo supports individuals and families navigating Alzheimer’s, dementia, and the realities of caregiving. She works with clients who are adjusting to a diagnosis, stepping into new roles, or managing the ongoing emotional weight that can come with caring for a loved one.

Her work includes grief related to loss and life changes. Many clients are processing shifts in identity, relationships, and daily routines while learning how to stay present and steady through it all.

Flo is known for her calm and grounding presence. She creates a space where clients can slow down, feel heard, and begin to understand what they are experiencing at their own pace. Her approach is compassionate and practical, helping clients move forward in ways that feel manageable and aligned with their needs.

She incorporates mindfulness, stress reduction, and neuroprotective approaches to support emotional well being and overall cognitive health. Flo also offers family sessions to support communication, reduce conflict, and help families adjust to changing roles.

Before becoming a counselor, Flo spent 14 years as an attorney in Australia. After moving to the United States, she became a stay at home mom while raising her children and later pursued counseling in alignment with her desire to support others in meaningful ways.

She earned her Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Houston Victoria and completed her clinical training at Fort Bend Women’s Center and HGI Counseling Center. Her background in collaborative counseling reflects her belief that therapy is a partnership and that clients are the experts in their own lives.

In 2013, Flo cycled coast to coast across the United States, completing the Southern Tier route from San Diego to St. Augustine. That experience strengthened her appreciation for resilience, perspective, and the importance of support along the way.

Flo walks alongside individuals and families as they navigate Alzheimer’s, caregiving, grief, and life transitions, offering steady support through seasons that can feel uncertain and overwhelming.
